Forward of the Year, Tom Soar who has committed to a third term with the club and we are delighted he’s back in the fold. Well-liked and respected at the club, his entertaining personality and calming influence makes him a popular figure, both on and off the ice.

Soar said “Where has time gone? Very excited to be returning for my 3rd season with the Mo’s. Karl is putting together a strong squad for the coming season and I look forward to playing in front of our great fans once again. Hope you are all having a great summer and see you in September.”

Soar spent his formative years in the Nottingham Panthers Junior System. He enjoyed spells in the EPL with both the Telford Tigers and Peterborough Phantoms before signing with the Solihull Barons for the 2014/15 season, scoring over 50 goals in his first year.  There he stayed for 6 seasons which were split in 2 following a solitary season with Streatham IHC in 2018/19.  His last season in Solihull saw him ice as their Assistant Captain.

Tom has played a key role since joining the club back in 2022 and his impact was pretty much immediate in those early days where he played a huge part in a couple of important wins early on in that season before an on-ice incident in Chelmsford resulted in a serious collarbone injury and curtailed any further involvement for a number of weeks.  He returned just before Christmas, following a period of recovery, and continued to build on those strong initial performances culminating in being a part of the cup winning team later that season.

2023 saw him return to the Mos and complete an injury free campaign which enabled him to find his stride and complete a successful season, on a personal level, with us which ultimately led to him being crowned Forward of the Year at End of Season Awards Night in April.  In his 37 appearances he scored 34 goals, most of them rocket shots, and contributed to a further 24 giving him a points total of 58 across all competitions.

“We’ve had Soarsy with us the past two seasons now and he fitted in from day one. Across the course of last season we saw, in an uninterrupted year, just how productive he can be offensively. His finishing is exceptional and he’s lethal in the offensive zone. Hence the reward – Forward of the Season. On top of all that he is a positive influence in the dressing room that commands the respect of his teammates. So, it was a no brainer for me to bring him back this season. Can’t wait to work with him again”.
Head Coach Karl Lennon
