HARRIS HANGS AROUND THIS SEASON

The Dynamos are delighted to announce the return of 27 year old Forward of the Year Richard Harris.  We are happy to retain Richard in the roster despite additional work responsibilities that will mean he will not be able to ice in every fixture. However Harris remains extremely committed to the team and wanted to ensure that he could make himself available as and when suitable for both parties.

The powerful forward made the step up from the NIHL South’s second tier in the 21/22 season, joining us in the October and becoming a dependable and reliable player throughout the remainder of that campaign.  His strength and physical presence on the ice are a real asset and after a successful start he re-signed with us last season and picked up where he left off finishing with another strong season under his belt and some important goals too.  He appeared in 39 games for us that culminated in him sitting in third place in terms of points scored with 28 goals and 12 assists under his belt and a very respectable total of 40 points across all competitions.

Harris is a former Invicta junior who then went on to excel at another sport – making his name in Rugby League with Medway Dragons before joining the London Broncos on professional terms. Unfortunately, an injury at just 21 halted his rugby career and Harris then went on to play for the Mustangs from 2017/18, becoming a prominent member of the side in a short space of time which ultimately led to his Mos debut in 2021.

With a successful Personal Training and Online Coaching business, Harris is very busy both in his professional and personal life and work opportunities mean his appearances this season will not be as regular as they have been but his commitment to the team is strong and he will feature when his schedule allows.  We value his efforts and are delighted he will be in and around the team for another season.

On his return this year, Harris said “I’m excited to be part of the team for another year & play a role where possible. Unfortunately, due to work and life commitments, my availability won’t be as regular as I’d hope, but when I’m able to & when the teams needs it, I’ll be ready to play my part in what’s going to be another big year for the club”.

Delighted to keep the forward around, Head Coach Karl Lennon said “Rich and I spoke a few times this summer about his work situation which is making it difficult for him to commit to our full schedule but we were both very open to a more flexible deal that can help us as and when needed and importantly keep him in the game. He was a crucial part of our team last season and I’m glad to have him back. He was very productive in front of net, and we saw some great improvement in his general play as the season closed. So, I’m very happy that we can keep him within our club this season”💪

He will continue to wear the number 77 jersey when he returns to the ice in September.  Welcome back Rich!
