The Invicta Dynamos are delighted to announce the double signing of both forward Ed Stedman and defenceman Sam Oliver on a two-way agreement with the Invicta Mustangs. Both players will prioritise the Mustangs schedule and ice with the Mos when our fixtures do not clash. This is a continued commitment by both teams to keep exposing young hockey players at Invicta to the different levels of the NIHL.
Stedman will pick up where he left off with us last term. During the 2022/23 campaign he was able to feature in 18 games picking up a goal and 3 assists along the way. He became very popular amongst Dynamos fans for his high energy appearances. Alongside his commitment to the Mos he also iced 22 times for the Mustangs finding the net 8 times and assisting 11 goals to take 19 points across the season.
21-year-old no nonsense defenceman Oliver, also a product of the Invicta Junior system, played in 26 games for the Mustangs last season. During those games he managed 1 goal and 9 assists for a total of 10 points, whilst spending 54 minutes of that time in the penalty box.
Without doubt, both players were pivotal when it came to the NIHL South 2 Playoff success the Mustangs had last season.
Ed had this to say about re-joining the Dynamos on a two-way: “I’m excited to be a Mo again after a prosperous 22/23 season and to continue my development by gaining experience on the ice and receiving tips and tricks from respectable players and coaches off the ice. I’m also happy to see the team be stacked with home grown talent and local guys I’ve known throughout my career.”
Excited for his connection with the Dynamos Sam said: “I am looking forward to the challenges and experience that will come with this 2-way. I also feel immense pride in being a part of Invicta from juniors through to this new opportunity with the Dynamos.”
On agreeing the deal with the Mustangs, Dynamos Head Coach Karl Lennon said: “I am very happy to have Ed back with us again this season. He brings a good energy in the dressing room and especially on the ice with his performances. He is a tenacious player that really puts his all into every shift. After a fantastic season with the Mustangs and, where he could, with us, I’ll be looking forward to helping him take himself to the next level.”
“Sam trained with us towards the back end of the season and fitted in very well with the group. He’s another young hungry Invicta player looking to take a jump in his career and I’m more than happy to support him along the way. He was a vital part of the Mustangs success last term. Sam is a versatile player that can play both Forward and Defence. He is competitive, strong and athletic. That will add further intensity when we get started in September. On the two-way, Invicta Mustangs Head Coach Ali Roger said: “I’m very happy to continue this connection between the two teams. We could see last season that we both benefited from the increased game time for our young players. The opportunity to play against different standards of players and in a different league set up can only improve them both. I’m sure that they will both show exactly what they can do and be an important part of the team.”
Ed will continue to wear the number 22 jersey and Sam will take 14 when they are icing with the Mos.
