The Invicta Dynamos are thrilled to announce that 26-year-old forward, Ruskin Springer-Hughes, has confirmed his intentions for the upcoming season and will return to the ice in his second term for the club in September.

Springer-Hughes began his hockey days as a junior at Streatham, playing for both the U16s and U18s before icing on a two-way for the NIHL1 team in 2014. A move to Canada saw him continue his career for the following two years in the Canadian Greater Metro Hockey League with stints at both the Bracebridge Blues and Tottenham Steam. A return to the UK and a place at university led to the player joining the Nottingham Lions for two seasons and in his second term he was the Lions’ top scorer with 17 goals and 9 assists.
Ruskin joined the Sheffield Scimitars in the interrupted 20-21 season and in his second season there he claimed the accolade for the teams’ top points scorer totalling 28pts in all competitions across 32 games.
He iced for the Mos in his first game last September and showed great promise early on but a nasty injury involving 2 broken bones in his hand sustained during training in October meant his participation was curtailed for a number of months. Following surgery and a lengthy period of recovery he was welcomed back on to the ice in December to much anticipation. Initially playing through some discomfort he began to find his stride again and saw the remainder of the season out as a regular presence. In the 27 games he played he scored 10 goals and assisted in a further 12 more giving him a points total of 22. We are sure once the season starts he will be a high impact player and we look forward to seeing his progression.
On his re-sign to the Mos, Springer-Hughes said “Achieving silverware in my first year as a Dynamo proved to me the quality of the team that Karl put together. With the current trajectory of the team and drive that Karl has inspired in the boys, a return was a no brainer”.
On resecuring the services of the forward for the coming season head Coach, Lennon, adds “Great to have Ruskin back with us this season. He settled well with the team last year and despite the challenge he faced with injury, he fought his way back to fitness often playing through pain and made a difference to the roster when he returned. He’s a strong all-rounder and can be extremely dangerous around the net with his finishing. Something I’m sure we’ll be seeing more of this season. He’s excited to get going again after further healing and I’m glad to have him back. 💪
Ruskin will continue to wear the number 3 when he takes to the ice in September.
Welcome back Mos Springer-Hughes!
