The Invicta Dynamos are delighted to announce the capture of 31-year-old defenceman Dan Scott. He joins from the National League team Raiders IHC, 16 years after making his Dynamos debut in the 06/07 season.
The 6ft defenceman has been a mainstay for the last 4 seasons with the Raiders in which time he has iced 159 times, scoring 14 goals and 77 assists totalling 91 points. During that period he also regularly wore the A as the teams’ Assistant Captain, a role that he’s been trusted with by many of the clubs he’s represented throughout his career.
It all started here at Invicta for the dependable D-man. Scott was a promising junior that made his debut for Kent’s senior team aged just 14 years old, making 11 appearances for the Mos and contributing 3 assists. From there he spent 2 seasons in North America at Northwood School which, on his return, saw him picked as Captain for the GB U18 squad. He would later represent GB U20’s in two stints once as Assistant Captain and again as Captain.
In addition to his time with the Raiders, his hockey CV is filled with experience at all levels of British Ice Hockey having represented the Coventry Blaze and Hull Stingrays at Elite League level and the Telford Tigers, Slough Jets and Basingstoke Bison in both EPIHL / NIHL in over 500 games. Highlights during his playing career include being crowned the 2014/15 EPIHL double League and Cup Champions with the Tigers and then NIHL 1 South League and Playoff Championships with the Bison in the 17/18 season where he was also voted into the First All-Star Team.
We really are delighted to have Dan back with us once more and look forward to his contribution come September as he takes to the ice in the rink where it all began for him.
On his return to the Dynamos, Dan said “I’m really excited to be back where it all started for me. It’s been a while since last playing for the Mos at 14. I felt the time was right for me to come home. After speaking with Karl and seeing what he has done last year, I’m looking forward to helping the club push forward a little more. Karl has put together a good team that I’m excited to be a part of. I know the club won silverware last year so the expectation will be the same. Lastly, I’m looking forward to seeing all the fans at the start of the season. It’s going to be a good one.”
Excited about signing Scott, Head Coach Karl Lennon had to say “When I first took this role, Dan was the guy that I wanted to bring back into our club to help build us back to where we want to be. He wasn’t available last season, but we remained in touch and he followed our progress. I’ve known him for such a long time now, having coached him as a junior and then played with him in his rookie season for the Mo’s. It was no surprise to us all that he has gone on to have the career that he’s had. We’ve all followed him each step of the way with pride. His quality both on the ice and in the dressing room will be vital for us to take the next steps in our journey. He’s a fantastic player that is exceptionally strong defensively. This will support us in that area where I think we need improvement from last season. We’re delighted to have him back… Welcome home.”🐴
