Callum spent many of his formative hockey years as part of the Slough Jets junior programme, during which time he was a regular selection for South East Conference teams all the way up to U17 level. In the 2016/17 season, while still part of the Slough system, he played his first 10 games at senior level with the London Raiders in NIHL 1 – picking up his first senior goal.
In the 2017/18 season Burnett split his season in Chelmsford (Mohawks U18) and Romford (Raiders IHC – NIHL1) where, despite his young age, he added another 34 senior games to his career. In that same season he was selected as Captain of the U17 South East team and was part of the Gold Medal winning GB U18 roster (WJC D2A).
The following season Callum spread his time across the Raiders IHC organisation at U18, NIHL 2 and NIHL 1 level. Across the 3 teams, he played 42 games, picking up 6 goals and 13 assists for 19pts. He also closed the season with a call up to the England U19 roster and again represented GB U18 at the WJC this time at D1B level.
During the next two seasons Callum picked up 53 games at National level with the Raiders IHC alongside a smaller amount (15) of appearances with the Raiders IHC 2 team.
At the beginning of the 2022/23 season Burnett moved across to the Chelmsford Chieftains and was named Captain in his first season with the team. Across the season he iced 34 times picking up 4 goals and 8 assists for 12 points total. Burnett then spent the 2023/24 season with the Streatham Redhawks. A season that saw him an integral part of the 4 trophies they picked up – NIHL 1 Britton Cup, South League, South Cup and National Champions. Along the way he contributed 4 goals and 9 assists (13 points) in his 38 games with the team.
On joining the Mos Callum said “I am looking forward to getting started with the team and helping them with their goals for this season and the future. The season ahead will be competitive. I’m excited for it to get underway and to be part of some good hockey for everyone to watch.”
“Callum comes to us this season on the back of an excellent season in Streatham. He was a big part in the trophy haul they had last year. He’s always been a defender that has stood out every time I have coached against the sides he’s played for. He’s sound defensively has a good eye for a pass and controls the blue line well in the offensive zone. An opportunity to bring a player of his quality to our roster couldn’t be missed, so I am delighted he said yes to joining us and can’t wait to work with him. Welcome to Invicta Callum.”
