With a career at the Mos spanning 9 seasons and having played 368 games, the sixth highest within the club across our 25-year history, No61 Arran Strawson is delighted to be back for a tenth term. Strawson first iced in Gillingham in 2012 and the 35-year-old dependable D Man has since made Kent his home and his love of our club clear.
The characterful player has gone on to become something of an institution and is highly regarded by both his peers, Club Management and our loyal supporters and he is certainly considered a fan favourite, with many calling for his return when work commitments meant he was unable to ice in recent seasons. His all-time stats show that in the 368 games played he has scored 65 goals and contributed 218 assists giving him an impressive points total of 283, with 587 minutes spent in the penalty box. His tenure at the club has seen him honoured as both Captain and Alternate Captain, this season will once again see him don the ‘A’ and his experience and skill will play a significant role in the development and support of the younger players on the roster.
“A proper hockey player and gent to boot. He’s a legend in these parts and we are so happy to have him in the roster for this season. His offensive output as a D man is outstanding and we will really welcome that to our blue line this year. Having spoken to him, he’s dead excited to get the new season started with a full preseason under his belt. He’ll add a huge amount of experience to the team, especially our younger players.”
