The Invicta Dynamos have added to their roster ahead of the weekend’s games against Chelmsford Chieftains with the signing of 26 year old forward Joshua Condren.
Joshua Condren is a former Guildford junior who then went on to represent the Slough Jets and London Raiders before first joining the Dynamos in 2015/16. In his first season in Gillingham he featured in all but one of the team’s 50 games, found the net 12 times and claimed 12 assists for a total of 24 points.
After a successful debut year, Condren stayed for a further two and in 2016/17 he was a part of the side that lifted the NIHL South Division 1 Playoff trophy – playing his part with 4 goals and 11 assists in 40 appearances. In 2017/18 he featured another 29 times – scoring 5 goals before moving to nearby Streatham the following campaign. After a break from the game, the speedy forward returned to the Dynamos for a short period last season but he is now back in the fold and available to play from tomorrow.
Condren is a hard working forward with pace and a knack for drawing penalties with his unorthodox style. He will bring tenacity to the line-up and has the ability to score important goals.
With the recent run of bad luck the Mos have faced, losing Soar and Springer-Hughes due to injuries, the addition of Condren bolsters the numbers as we continue with our league and cup campaigns.
Speaking on the signing of Condren Head Coach, Karl Lennon, had this to say “We’ve had a pretty torrid week with injuries. As you saw we lost Tom Soar last week in Chelmsford to a collarbone injury and then on Tuesday in practice we lost Ruskin with a Broken Hand. So both will be out for a number of weeks. They will be missed but the season is long and we’ll get to welcome them back as and when they are ready. Of course we know we will have to use the depth of our squad but we knew we had to react quickly to any potential signings we could make. Josh and I spoke during the summer and he was all ready to sign before a change in his work commitments meant that he wouldn’t be able to make every game. That wasn’t ideal but he was still in our plans across the season. In light of these injuries we acted quickly to ensure we have cover and so he will come in to support us as and when he can. He’s familiar with the club and we all know what he is capable of bringing to the table. He’s a good skater, puck carrier and I’m sure he will contribute significantly at both ends of the ice both offensive and defensively. So we look forward to having him back with us this weekend!”
Speaking on his return, Condren said “It’s great to be back with the Dynamos for the upcoming season, looking forward to meeting the new team and getting back on the ice. Got great feelings for the coming months, can’t wait to start!”
Condren will wear number 91 during the season, but will wear number 4 until we take delivery of his jerseys.
