HEAD COACH ANALYSIS
So, another weekend of highs and lows…
We started out the weekend with a very solid first period against the Jets. We were very compact defensively limiting their shots whilst being very dominant in their zone. But frustratingly we didn’t take our chances and came in only 1-0 at the end of the first. We then proceeded to create a carbon copy of our 2nd period the week before, where in a 10-15 min spell the jets capitalised on us not scoring by putting the puck away themselves.
As we regrouped before the 3rd I had every confidence in the boys that they would turn the score around and claw our way back into the game from a 2 goal deficit. Something we had seen them do the week before. But then the news came to the dressing room that there were problems with the Zamboni and the rest was history… As the club put out that evening, we were incredibly disappointed not to finish the game and of course sorry that the fans in the building couldn’t witness the boys try and put their 2nd period right in the 3rd.
We are now in the hands of the EIHA to understand what the outcome of the result will be. Especially considering that the circumstances were completely out of our control.
We moved into Sunday away against the Chieftains knowing that consistency in our play was needed. They have a strong squad expecting to finish high up the league and so we had prepared for a tough night.
What I and the amazing away support witnessed was a performance that we could all be immensely proud of. From the opening draw to the final buzzer those boys put in an absolute shift in winning all of their battles across the night. They stuck to our game plan for 60 mins and we reaped the rewards. We didn’t carry one player. Everyone put their bodies on the line to a point at the end of the game where I was left with 11 skaters. We lost Soarsy to a Collarbone injury which is still being diagnosed fully (likely a number of weeks out of action), Gregor to a mild head injury which we will of course take care with and Rich to illness. Special mentions have to go out to our scorers on the night… who were ruthless in their finishing… Husk, Louis, Rich, Stanley, Tommy D, Soarsy and of course Longer with the trick! 💪 Special mentions also have to go to our defensive unit including our two Goalies Owen and Tyler (on his Dynamos debut) and our MOM Rusk with 4pts on the night.
We know that we will be in for a tough weekend as they will of course look to bounce back against us. We’ll get a big week of training in ahead of the fixtures and be ready in our barn come Saturday! Look forward to seeing and hearing you there!! 🐴🏒💪
