The Invicta Dynamos are saddened to announce the departure of defenceman Andy Henderson but wish him well after the blue liner returned home having being offered a new career back north of the border.
Andy Henderson arrived in Gillingham in the summer after time across the pond at the prestigious Ontario Hockey Academy and he settled quickly at the SilverBlades to become a prominent figure in the team’s rear guard. The Scot has featured 25 times in a Dynamos jersey but Sunday’s outing against the Wightlink Raiders looks to have been his last as the skater returns home to take up a new career opportunity.
Speaking on the loss Head Coach Kevin Parrish said, “Andy has been an asset to the Mos both on and off the ice and obviously we’re disappointed to lose him. However, this is the price of semi-professional hockey – players need careers and this is too good an opportunity for him to turn down. All that remains is to thank him for his efforts in Gillingham and to wish him all the best on his new path. I’ve no doubt he will be keeping an eye on our form for the remainder of the season”.
Meanwhile Henderson wished to speak directly to the supporters and penned the following letter:
Dear fans,
It is with a heavy heart that I have decided to end my time here in Gillingham with the Invicta Dynamos. Reaching this decision was extremely difficult because, as some will know, ice hockey has always been given a huge priority in my life but I have been offered a new career opportunity in Scotland that I am unable to turn down.
It has not only been a privilege but an honour to represent the Invicta Dynamos and I will forever be thankful for everything I have learned here at the club. I would like to thank Kev and all the staff associated with the Dynamos as well as my teammates – all of whom have become good friends.
Last but not least I offer my heartfelt thanks to the best fans in the league (especially Debbie Rogerson and family) for making me feel so welcome, for the unbelievable support I have received as a player and for making my time here with the Mos so memorable. I wish every one of you all the very best! WE ARE DYNAMOS!
Andy Henderson #42.
