It seems only fitting that on the 26th of the month, we announce the return of our number 26—club legend Andy Smith!
The team’s all-time leading points scorer is officially set to rejoin the Invicta Dynamos for the 2025/26 season, marking a monumental moment for the club and its fans.
Having first joined the Mo’s in 2004, Smith iced in 11 seasons, with his last appearance coming in 2014/15, when he racked up an incredible 94 points (45 goals, 49 assists). That same season, he became the first Dynamos player to surpass the 1000-point mark, cementing his place in club history.
On his comeback, Andy Smith shared: “I reached out to Karl toward the end of last season and followed the team during practices and games. I could see immediately the positive environment here, and it only confirmed the urge I had deep inside me to come back. As soon as I touched the ice, I knew I wanted back in. I’m so excited to get going and can’t wait for the first games in September. See you all then! #26”
Head Coach Karl Lennon couldn’t be happier: “Where do I begin? Obviously, Smithy and I have been friends since childhood, and I had the fortune of sharing the ice with him for most of my playing career. Without question, he’s the player who has had the biggest impact on this club—his numbers prove that.
When he came to me and shared his interest in playing again, my response was simple—‘of course.’ Andy will bring so much to this team: his undeniable quality, relentless work rate, and, above all, his leadership. He has always had the ability to lift the players around him, and after watching him in practices and a couple of late-season games, you could sense he was eager to be back. I’m over the moon that he’s returning—back where he belongs!”
Welcome home, Smithy!
