The Invicta Dynamos remained undefeated at home after beating the Chelmsford Chieftains 4-3 on Sunday 17th Sept.
The guests took an early 1-0 lead as Cameron Bartlett fired a shot over the glove of Owen Rider just 3 minutes and 45 seconds into the first period. As their nerves settled the Dynamos (Mos) found their feet in the game, testing Lawday numerous times who made some big saves for the Chieftains. A flurry of chances and some sustained pressure saw Thomas Soar net his first goal of the season beating Jordan Lawday 14 minutes into the first, giving the Dynamos the momentum going into the break.
The Dynamos wasted no time capitalizing on this momentum as just under 2 minutes into the second period, Mads Thune found the top right corner to give the hosts the lead. The Chieftains began to show their frustrations by taking a few unnecessary penalties. The Mos made sure to take advantage on the
powerplay as a well worked move found Tommy Huggett, alone in the slot who ripped it home and gave Invicta a two goal cushion with 5 minutes remaining in the second period.
The Dynamos remained hot after a strong end to the second period and scored another goal early in the 3rd period. This time through Stanislav Lascek who buried a back-door pass from Owen Dell. 4-1 Mos.
With 6 minutes remaining in the game Chieftains defenseman Ethan Reid found the back of the net to bring the game back within 2.
Some high quality scoring chances from Chelmsford saw Dynamos goalie Owen Rider come up big several times, keeping the Mos in front by 2. The Chieftains pressure eventually paid off with only 7 seconds remaining in the game as Ethan Reid netted his second of the game.
A well rounded performance from front to back was enough to keep the Chelmsford Chieftains at bay.
A MOTM performance from Captain Harrison Lillis capped off a great Sunday Night in Gillingham.
