With a career at the Mos spanning 10 seasons and having played 403 games, the fourth highest within the club, No61 Arran Strawson is delighted to be back for an eleventh term. Strawson first iced in Gillingham in 2012 and the 36-year-old dependable D Man has stuck with us through the highs and the lows and isn’t going anywhere anytime soon.
Strawson is a popular player on and off the ice and has been an integral part of the club for such a long time, we can’t remember a team without him in it. He is a consistently solid and dependable presence on the blue line. His all-time stats state that in the 403 games played he has scored 69 goals and contributed 242 assists giving him a points total of 311, with 623 minutes spent in the penalty box. These impressive figures underline Strawson’s vital role and skill in creating play from deep within the d thus enabling him to take the accolade of the highest all time point scoring defenceman last season, jumping above the previous highest Phil Chard. His tenure at the club has seen him honoured as both Captain and Assistant Captain and his experience still plays a significant role in the development and support of the younger players on the roster.
Last season Strawson featured in 35 games, scoring 4 goals and helping to create another 24 giving him a points total of 28. The loyal d-man will once again pull on a Mos jersey in September as he enters his 11th consecutive season at the club.
Speaking on his return to the Dynamos, Arran Strawson said, I’m so excited to be back again especially after I was thinking of calling it a day. The call came from Karl and he said that I’m still very much a part of his plans on building on the success of last season. I was so happy for him last season to achieve his own personal milestone of becoming the leading All Time Point Scoring Defenceman in Dynamos history. His experience, composure and quality are a massive asset to us. He really allows us to build attacks from the back and he’s a pleasure to have around the dressing room. So welcome back Straws. 💪”.
