SOAR SAYS YES TO SECOND TERM

The Invicta Dynamos have continued building for the 2023/24 season with the resigning of 30-year-old forward Tom Soar who has committed to a second term with the club and we are very happy he’s back.

Soar joined the Mos last September having spent his formative years in the Nottingham Panthers Junior System. He enjoyed spells in the EPL with both the Telford Tigers and Peterborough Phantoms before signing with the Solhihull Barons for the 2014/15 season, scoring over 50 goals in his first year.  There he stayed for 6 seasons which were split in 2 following a solitary season with Streatham IHC in 2018/19.  His last season in Solihull saw him ice as their Assistant Captain.

His impact at the Mos last season was fairly immediate and he played a key part in a couple of important wins early on in the season before an on-ice incident in Chelmsford resulted in a serious collarbone injury and curtailed any further involvement for a number of weeks.  The injury and his subsequent recovery period saw him not make an on-ice appearance again until just before Christmas but his return to the team was huge and a moral boost and he continued to build on the strong performances we saw from the start.  In his 28 appearances he scored 17 goals and contributed to a further 20 giving him a points total of 37 across all competitions.

Following the successful resign of Soar, Head Coach Karl Lennon said “Loved having Soarsy with us last season. He’s an absolute gent off the ice and on it I think he showed us his quality in his general play and especially around the net. I was gutted for him when his injury came and that certainly affected us as a team. When he returned to the lineup we could definitely see an improvement to our performances. I still know he has levels to show in his game and I’m very excited to see him again with us next season!”

Speaking on his return to the Dynamos Soar said “I thoroughly enjoyed my first year at the club and it was a no brainer when Karl and I spoke about the forthcoming season. With the foundations the club is built on and the squad Karl is putting together, I’ve no doubt we can replicate and exceed last year’s successes.”

Tom Soar will continue to wear number 79 for the Invicta Dynamos in 2023/24.

Welcome back Tom!
