For those that weren’t at the End of Season Presentation Night on Saturday where the news first broke, Kevin and Sarah Parrish are delighted to announce that, following a successful debut season in charge of the Mos, Karl Lennon will return as Head Coach for the 2023/24 season.
During the last 8 months Karl has provided a calm and measured approach to his coaching duties. Guiding the team on to some tremendous performances and that all important Cup win. His steadying hand has ensured some consistency and stability has returned to the Mos once more. He has stuck to the promises he made in the summer of 2022 and has invested time in the younger players coming through the ranks, ensuring they have regular ice time, and this new focus and commitment has already paid dividends for both the players and the club.
Karl has already begun working on the roster for September and player signing announcements will commence very soon.
Speaking on the return of Lennon, Sarah Parrish said “We are immensely proud of what Karl and the Team have achieved this season and thank Karl for steering the ship to success in the cup but more importantly for the shift in focus that his appointment last year enabled and for all of his hard work and effort that ultimately led to some good times returning to Gillingham again, for that we cannot thank him enough. His passion and love for the club are second to none and we know that he will continue to build on that this season and beyond. We are excited to see what next season brings with Karl in charge once more”.
Karl also had this say “I’m delighted to be back. Last season we set the foundations for our future, focusing on developing our own and improving our performances each step of the way.
In reflection we can be very proud of the steps we have taken so far… an improved league position, taking part in the playoff finals weekend and NIHL South 1 Cup is a great start. But this is just the beginning. We have a way to go before we reach our destination and personally I cannot wait for the new season to get started.
We’ve got another busy summer ahead preparing for 23/24 and like last season we’ll be leaving no stone unturned to ensure we are ready to hit the ground running.
