25 year old goal scoring forward, Ruskin Springer-Hughes, is set to join the Mos following a relocation to the South that will enable him to commit to us for the upcoming season and is a very welcome addition to the club.
Springer-Hughes began his hockey days as a junior at Streatham, playing for both the U16s and U18s before icing on a two-way for the NIHL1 team in 2014. A move to Canada saw him continue his career for the following two years in the Canadian Greater Metro Hockey League with stints at both the Bracebridge Blues and Tottenham Steam. A return to the UK and a place at university led to the player joining the Nottingham Lions for two seasons and in his second term he was the Lions’ top scorer with 17 goals and 9 assists. Following his time in Nottingham he had a short spell with the Solihull Barons in the NIHL1 North, playing 14 games in 2019/20.
Ruskin joined the Sheffield Scimitars in the interrupted 20-21 season where he notched 13 goals and 10 assists in just 14 games. Last season he continued in Sheffield, scoring 10 goals and 6 assists in the league and added a further 9 goals and 2 assists in cup competitions. Leading the team in goal scoring and totalling 28pts in all competitions across 32 games.
On joining the Mos, Springer-Hughes said “It was an easy decision to sign for the Dynamos for the coming season. Just looking at the announced signings you can see that Karl is building a strong team and I’m looking forward to getting going with them for the coming season”.
On securing the services of the forward for the coming season head Coach, Lennon, adds “Ruskin comes to us from the Scimitars after re-locating back down south this summer. He comes with great recommendation from a few contacts I have in UK Hockey. When speaking to Ruskin, it was clear to me how excited he was to be joining the team and we are delighted to have him. He’s a big strong lad that has an eye for a goal and has a great work ethic during games. He will be a huge asset to us this season and we can’t wait to see him in a Dynamos jersey”.
