Russia’s invasion of Ukraine began on 24th February and is estimated to have caused over 13k casualties and displaced more than 2.3m people. We have all been devastated by the images of the conflict and the apparent helplessness of the situation but now we hope that we, as the Dynamos family, will be able to make a contribution in support of the brave people of Ukraine.
In his role away from hockey, joint club owner Kevin Parrish works alongside a number of Ukrainian nationals here in the UK and he has seen first hand the distress caused by the ongoing conflict. Witnessing this heartbreak has inspired the club to take action and we have teamed up with their employer AC Goatham & Son to both raise awareness and funds for the country.
For our home game against the Junior Raiders on Sunday 20th March we have invited a number of Ukrainian nationals to be our guests of honour at the game and they will join us courtesy of a minibus provided by AC Goatham & Son. At the tie they will also then be presented with t-shirts by the team.
Meanwhile supporters can join our efforts for Ukraine by purchasing our brand new ‘We Stand With Ukraine’ t-shirts designed by our friends at PuckDrop with all profits raised being donated to the Red Cross Ukraine appeal. T-shirts are priced at £12-15 dependant on the size required and, if ordered before midday on Monday 14th March, we anticipate them being available for collection the weekend of the game.
We will also be holding a bucket collection at the fixture for supporters to donate funds for the Red Cross appeal should they wish. All money donated goes towards providing food, water, first aid, shelter, clothing and hygiene parcels to those directly affected by the conflict.
The ongoing conflict in Ukraine is devastating and we all hope for a peaceful resolution as soon as possible. In the meantime we are determined that our efforts as the Dynamos family will have a small impact on some of those who most need help at this time. The Mos family has always been very generous to worthy causes and we hope you will join us again, however you can, to show that we stand with Ukraine.
