Thune joined us in 2023, after a lengthy break from the sport, but his calm and composed manner soon saw him find his feet and contribute vital goals across the course of the season and his return is a welcome one.

Mads is thrilled to be back with us for another season and had this to add “You know, the Dynamos organisation has gone above and beyond for me, so absolutely will I be re-joining! And this past year has really brought back my competitiveness, and I see the potential for us to go all the way this season”!

The 30-year-old was born and raised in Denmark and began his hockey career in his hometown playing for the Herlev U17s. He then played a brief spell in Sweden, icing for the IFK Ore at both U18 and U20 level before returning to Denmark in 2012 where he rejoined the Herlev set up and enjoyed a steady period of play icing with the U20s, Herlev IK in the Denmark 2 league and with the Herlev Eagles at the top tier of Danish ice hockey. In 2015 he made the switch to play for the Gladsaxe Bears and in his last full season icing for them he played 25 games, scoring 12 goals and assisting in another 15 more giving him a points total of 27.

2018 saw Mads make a move to the UK for work and he has since set his life up here, living and working in Kent for the past 6 years. Missing his ice hockey, he reached out to Karl Lennon last summer and the rest is history! After a lot of hard work behind the scenes securing the necessary paperwork to enable Thune to ice for the Mos, he took to the line up in September. Appearing in almost all of our games last season, highlighting his commitment, Thune scored 18 goals and bagged another 25 assists, giving him a points total of 43.

“When Mads messaged me last summer, I never expected that he would bring so much to the table for us. Not only is he a fantastic hockey player, top professional but he’s a great guy that fitted in with the boys immediately. He’d had some time out of the game and of course I’m sure it took him a little while to feel comfortable here. He really excelled as the season went on and he was a priority for me to retain. He’s an all rounder that is solid defensively, lethal offensively and dependable when it comes to special teams. Giving him Coaches Player of the Season shows just how highly I think of him. Can’t wait to work with you again Mads”
