Invicta Dynamos are pleased to announce the signing of 23-year-old forward James Laming. He joins the Mo’s following a hugely impressive season with the Invicta Mustangs as they clinched the NIHL South 2 Playoff title.
The former Invicta junior has had 6 seasons with the Mustangs and has played a pivotal role in the team’s offence in recent times, regularly at the top end of the scoring charts. This year was no different, across 24 league games he scored 18 goals and 19 assists totalling 37 points, adding a further 10 points in 4 games (6 of which were goals) in the playoffs.
In the wake of his continued improvement and development across a number of seasons, as well as success in the playoffs this year, Laming felt the time was right to take the next step in his hockey career and a move to NIHL1 and we are delighted to support his journey. This signing strengthens further the commitment made by the club to promote and foster players from within the Invicta family.
On his signing, Head Coach Karl Lennon said “James joins us off the back of another outstanding year with the Mustangs. He trained with us during last season and never looked out of place, not only on the ice but with the boys too. He reached out to me following the season and is looking to take the next step in his hockey career and we are happy to take that step with him. He skates incredibly well and as you can see by his points tally last term, he will add to our offensive threat. It’s great to have another Invicta player coming through the system in our team. Speaking on his move, Laming said “I am very grateful for the opportunity that Karl has given me for the 23-24 season. By training with the team on occasion last season I was able to experience first hand the incredibly supportive and hard-working environment created by the leadership team and it is amazing to see how quickly this has translated to on-ice progression and success. I cannot wait to be a part of that and see what we can achieve as a group next season!”
