The Invicta Dynamos fell to a heavy defeat at the hands of Streatham whilst on their travels in the league on Saturday night. The Mos were without the suspended Harrison Lillis and Gregor McAllan who was icing for the Mustangs. Streatham’s line-up included Vanya Antonov who was granted permission to play by the EIHA despite getting a match penalty the previous weekend whilst icing for the Bracknell Bees (his 2-way club).
Antonov fired the first shot of the game wide for the hosts and Filip Sedivy also pulled an attempt wide for the Mos not long afterwards. Streatham went 1-0 up on 06:40 – Antonov teeing-up Rupert Quiney to blast past Grandy-Smith and into the net. Grandy-Smith then had to save an attempt from McCormick with players bunching towards him which resulted in Giles shoving Farn and getting 2 penalty minutes for roughing. The resulting powerplay was enough to enable Streatham to double their lead on 09:12 with Scott Bailey the scorer.
The Mos were handy a great opportunity in the 10th minute when Jonathan Wallius was penalised for slashing and the away side grabbed their chance with Huska firing the puck across the goalmouth for Tom Davis to ram it past King for 2-1 on 11:07. Farn and Giles then had a little tussle which lead to Farn getting 2 penalty minutes for roughing, as did Giles but he also collected an additional 10 minutes for misconduct.
The period was getting feisty which was further demonstrated when Miles pushed Aiken into the Invicta’ net and being sent to the penalty box on a 2 minute interference punishment. Once Streatham were back to full strength they were pinned back to 2-2 on 15:35 – Brandon Webster roofing past King from Farrell’s behind the net pass. The Mos however conceded two late goal in the period to end it 4-2 down – Adam Carr (18:21) and Thomas Beesley (19:33) grabbing the goals.
The 2nd period started with King denying Huska twice in quick succession. The Mos were then on a powerplay when Wood was penalised for slashing but they failed to take any advantage of it. Streatham soon made it 5-2 when back to full strength – Quiney’s shot bobbling underneath Grandy-Smith on 25:45.
Streatham added the 6th goal within a minute – Carr skating from behind the net to beat Grandy- Smith on 26:12. The gloves were dropped on 26:35 with Ryan Giles and Billy Paynter getting a good grip of each other but neither getting the takedown and both players penalised on a 2+2 fighting charge. It was then 7-2 on 29:37 – Scott Bailey doubling his goal count after Farn had a shot rebound to the forward. Bailey then completed his hat-trick on 31:22 when he beat Stephenson on the puck and was left alone to place a shot past Grandy-Smith for 8-2.
Moments later Adam Wood intercepted a turnover to speed down the wing and lay it off for McCormick to make it 9-2 on 34:17 and then Miles made it 10-2 on 34:34. Invicta pulled Grandy-Smith and replaced him with young netminder Owen Rider. Arran Strawson and Brandon Webster linked-up on 35:54 to set-up Huska who made it 10-3.
The final period saw Rider do well early at the restart to deny Ingoldsby and a while later Wood. However, the youngster could do nothing to stop Streatham from making it 11-3 on 47:42 when Antonov centred for the unmarked Carr to blast into the net. Filip Sedivy thought he grabbed a consolation goal for Invicta seconds later but it was ruled out for high sticks.
On 49:38 Rider pulled out a great save to deny Wood from in front of the net but was fired home his own rebound to bring the score up to 12-2. The final goal of the game again fell to Streatham – Jonathan Wallius making it 13-3 on 49:50 to end a miserable night for the Mos.
