The Invicta Dynamos are delighted to announce the two-way agreement of defender Matty Bell with the Invicta Mustangs.
Bell is a homegrown talent here at Invicta having represented multiple age groups within the junior system. Now moving into his first full time season in senior hockey, he will split his time between the Mustangs (as priority) and will be available to ice for the Dynamos in the fixtures that do not clash. This is a move to maximise his ice time and exposure to different levels of hockey.
Bell recently re-signed for the Mustangs having iced for them 11 times last term, notching 1 assist. Alongside his duties with the Mustangs, Bell was Captain and a vital part of the Invicta Colts U18s team that clinched the South 2 League Title beating both Haringey Hounds and Swindon Tigers in a dramatic finale. In just 13 games for the Colts he scored a whopping 21 goals and 29 assists totaling 50pts for the season. At the IJIHC End of Season Awards, Bell was named the recipient of the prestigious Danny Terry Personality Award – an award given to the player demonstrating pride, passion, commitment and teamwork, but above all doing it with a smile on their face.
Matty Bell had this to say about joining the Dynamos on a two-way: “Really excited for the opportunity to come and play for the Dynamos. Can’t wait for the season to start!”
Clearly happy about this agreement, Dynamos Head Coach Karl Lennon said: “The very first person I sat down with during the summer was Ali. I knew that a strong connection between our two teams needed to be made. He opened the door to me, and I’ve spent the summer skating with the Mustangs. I got to see firsthand the great spirit they have built, something we’ll need to replicate ourselves come September. Part of our discussions centered around increasing exposure for young players to different levels of hockey. So, we are delighted to have Matty available when the schedule allows him to skate with us this term. He has a calmness on the puck past his years and I’m sure will add great quality to our blue line this year when he can ice. We’ll keep in close contact with Ali throughout the season to ensure that, between us, we keep Matty developing into the player we know he can be.”
Invicta Mustangs Head Coach Ali Roger had this to say: “Matty came to us from a very good Invicta Junior system, where he showed great skill and confidence in his game. He adapted very quickly into the Mustang’s hard training sessions and style of play and built a strong bond with the other Mustangs players, to say the least he fitted straight in.
A stronger defense-man was in the making with every training session. On and off the ice Matty not only gave 100% but he grew from strength to strength, his selfless attitude towards himself and his teammates was exceptional, and this showed with the respect from his fellow players. In such a short space of time Matty had secured a regular spot in the Mustangs squad.
I totally believe that Matty will excel in his hockey career and make an impact in any team he plays for, so the Dynamos have a great asset with this two-way signing opportunity.
This summer saw a change in leadership in the Dynamos camp. Karl and myself have had many discussions with Mike Kindred (Head Coach of Junior Development) to help provide the correct path way for all Invicta junior players, giving them more opportunities to become Invicta senior hockey players. All three of our beliefs are the same and that is simply to allow more opportunities for all of our junior players to enjoy their hockey to the maximum.
When icing with the Mos Bell will wear the number 46 jersey.
