The Invicta Dynamos are delighted to announce the temporary signing of experienced Slovakian forward Stanislav Lascek from the Sheffield Scimitars to fill the gap left by the extended absence of Tomas Banovsky whose arrival is being delayed by government administration.
Following his debut season, Tomas Banovsky immediately committed to a return to the Dynamos however the recent change in relationship between the UK and the European Union has significantly delayed his arrival. To secure the services of an EU worker the club must firstly obtain a government license and, secondly, the player must meet specific criteria to enter the country. Whilst the Dynamos applied for approval some time ago and fast tracked the application, the process is still ongoing with the result being an extended period of absence from the team for the star import. As a club we remain fully committed to securing the return of Banovsky and will see the process through to its conclusion but, to reduce the impact of the delay, we are pleased to announce the arrival of Stanislav Lascek who joins us on a temporary basis.
35 year old Stanislav Lascek arrives in Gillingham with an excellent pedigree having featured in Slovakia, Canada, America, France, Germany, Sweden and the UK. The former 2005 round five NHL draftee has predominantly iced on these shores since 2013 and his stay here began with the Milton Keynes Lightning in what was then the EPL in 2013/14. Over one and a half seasons in Buckinghamshire, Lascek iced in 69 games, netted 51 times and added 46 assists for a total of 97 points.
After brief spells in Germany and Sweden, Lascek moved to the Sheffield Steeldogs, also of the EPL, in 2015/16 where he continued to be a force in the league. In 46 outings he scored 27 goals and claimed 41 assists for 68 points. The following campaign was split between the Hull Pirates and Steeldogs but was another successful one for the Slovakian – 85 points coming from 52 games by way of 29 goals and 56 assists.
In 2017/18 Stanislav Lascek moved to the NIHL with the Sutton Sting and here he would spend the next three seasons. A firm favourite with the fans, Lascek played in 73 fixtures, put the puck in the net 71 times and played a role in 87 more for 158 points. After Covid postponed the 2020/21 season, the creative forward then signed with the Sheffield Scimitars for the current season but now he moves south to be a part of the Invicta Dynamos.
Speaking on the signing of Stanislav Lascek, Player-Coach Anthony Leone said, “Not having Tomas with us for the start of the season has not been ideal but to be able to bring in Stanislav is a real boost. Stanislav is an extremely talented player with bags of experience and he will undoubtedly have an impact on this team. He has scored and created goals wherever he has been and is also an excellent addition to the changing room. I look forward to having him with us and the difference he will make out on the ice”.
Stanislav Lascek will be available for the Dynamos immediately beginning this weekend with a road game against the Solent Devils on Saturday and a home tie with the Milton Keynes Thunder on Sunday.
