Prolific twins Cameron and Grant Bartlett are the latest new additions to the Invicta Dynamos roster ahead of 2018/19 after Head Coach Kevin Parrish secured the signatures of the pair bringing them to Kent from the Chelmsford Chieftains.
Brothers Cameron and Grant Bartlett are products of the Chelmsford youth setup and have iced together throughout their careers so far. Starting within the junior ranks in Essex, the twin forwards progressed to making their first senior appearances in 2009/10 for the Warriors in the ENIHL South’s second tier and then transitioned from here to Division 1 and the Chieftains over the next two seasons.
By 2012/13 both Cameron and Grant Bartlett were full time Chelmsford Chieftains in the top tier of the rebranded NIHL South. Despite still finding their feet in Division 1, the pair played a part in the Essex outfit finishing the season as league champions – Cameron managing 8 points in 32 outings and Grant 13. This was a first taste of senior success for the brothers but it quickly became commonplace as the Chieftains took the Division 1 title for the next four years, alongside numerous cup and playoff victories, and the young forwards played an increasing role each term. In 2013/14 Cameron secured 14 points from 32 league games whilst Grant tallied 17 from 31.
Long term injury meant Grant Bartlett was forced to sit out the 2014/15 campaign but Cameron continued to go from strength to strength – this time finishing the league season with 18 goals and 11 assists for 29 points in 38 games. He would be reunited with his twin the following year as Grant battled back to notch 29 points himself – finding twine 17 times and teeing up his teammates on 12 occasions in 35 appearances. Cameron was just as productive – the forward also on target 17 times but claiming 27 assists for 44 points.
2016/17 was Chelmsford’s final year in the NIHL South Division 1 and the Bartletts remained at the forefront of the league’s most potent attack. 11 goals and 29 assists saw Cameron amass 40 points in 27 games – a tally Grant also reached by way of 23 strikes and 17 assists. In 2017/18 the Chieftains dropped to Division 2 as part of a league restructure and the two forwards opted to stay with them for one last term. This time Cameron ran riot with 27 goals and 28 assists for 55 points in 22 outings and Grant matched that total with 28 goals and 27 assists but from 14 fixtures. Now the prolific pairing return to the NIHL South’s top table as they switch to Gillingham to become a part of the 2018/19 Invicta Dynamos.
Speaking on this double signing, Head Coach Kevin Parrish said, “Cameron and Grant are two young and exciting talents with the ability to make a mark in this league. Having played together for so long they almost link up telepathically and both are as adept at creating chances as taking them. They will bring pace and creativity to our attack as well as giving us a some much needed depth. Despite having enjoyed so much success already they are arguably only now approaching their prime and I’ve no doubt they will have the fans on the edge of their seats. They are looking forward to the new challenge and making an impression in their new home and I am pleased to have them on the roster for the new campaign.”
Following his move south to the Mos, Cameron Bartlett said, “I’ve played against the Dynamos for a number of years and they have a good fanbase who create a great atmosphere so I’m looking forward to being a part of that. I’m focussed on bringing some more goals and excitement to the team and want to help the club be competitive in every competition. I’m looking forward to getting going when the season starts in September”.
Meanwhile twin brother Grant said, “I’ve played a lot of games in front of the Dynamos’ fans as an opposition player and the supporters have always been both loud and behind their team. I’m looking forward to experiencing that as a home player. On the ice I think the Mos fans already know what we’re all about and little will change there. We want to help the team be competitive in every game and see how far we can go in all competitions. I’m looking forward to the new challenge and will be ready to go for the new season.”
Cameron Bartlett will wear number 8 and Grant number 9 for the Dynamos. They take the team’s roster for 2018/19 to seven with news of further signings to be revealed next week.
