Osman hits 100 as Mos sink Solent

solent_050316Invicta Dynamos forward Steve Osman notched his 100th point for the club on Saturday night as a goal and two assists took him over the landmark during a comfortable 9-3 road victory against the Solent Devils.

The Mos made do without the services of Grant Baxter and Damien Welch whilst the two young Wootton twins also played no part. Invicta coach Kevin Parrish was forced to watch the game with the Invicta fans due to serving a suspension.

The game began at a fast pace in the small rink but the first goal did not arrive until 10.27 – captain Nicky Lewis scoring on the powerplay after linking up with Steve Osman and Conor Redmond to give the away side the perfect start. 30 seconds later Invicta doubled that lead – Callum Fowler claiming his first of the night for 2-0 at 11.00. To complete a crazy minute, Solent then answered within seconds – Mitchell Murray striking from the blue line to cut the deficit to 2-1 at 11.38. Just short of the 12 minute mark Steve Osman would restore Invicta’s two goal cushion with a strike that provided the forward his 100th point for the club. Osman then turned from goal scorer to goal provider five minutes later at 17.52 – playing Fowler through on goal to make it 4-1 to the Kent side. Controversy was then in the air just before the end of the period – Solent netminder Sam Calder throwing down his goal but the officials restarted with a faceoff in the Dynamos zone which brought the second Solent goal as Murray again beat King at the far post.

In the second period Eriks Ozollapa struck early to make it 5-2 at 26.37 following the break after combining with Fowler and before shooting past the helpless Sam Calder. Goal of the game then came a couple of minutes later – Damien King pulled out a tremendous save to deny Stephen Gosset and the loose puck fell to Bailey Wootton who skated the length of the Solent pad, deked Calder and taped the puck over the liner for 6-2 at 28.57. Calder did stand tall to deny Ozollapa on the half hour mark but would be soon picking the puck out the net again at 28.57 – Arran Strawson beating him from the left flank from a Fowler pass on a powerplay after Josh Condren was tripped by Alex Cole.

Ozollapa almost claimed his second goal of the night shortly into the third period but was denied by the red paint on Sam Calder’s goal frame. However with the Dynamos looking the more likely to score it was Solent who grabbed their third goal – Richard Facey sliding the puck past King from a Mitchell Murray assist on 50.34. Barely a minute after Solent scored Invicta replied to make it 8-3 – Ozollapa bulging the net after good build-up play by Lewis and Fowler. Twenty seconds afterwards the final strike of the game was scored by Nicky Lewis, feeding off an Ozollapa pass for 9-3 and two points in the bag.

Man of the match awards went to Eriks Ozollapa for his 2+2 and Mitchell Murray who played a hand in all the Solent goals for a 2+1.
