20 year old former Ireland international Conor Redmond is the latest new face to join the Invicta Dynamos ahead of 2015/16 with the skater switching to Kent after two seasons with the Slough Jets.
Conor Redmond rose up the ranks to ice for the Junior Belfast Giants in the SNL (Scottish National League) as early as 2010/11 before a move to Swindon’s under 18s the following year. The then 16 year old was frequently amongst the goals for the Cougars and was invited to step up to the NIHL South Division 2’s Wildcats on three occasions – a move that became more permanent come 2012/13. During his second season with Swindon, Redmond managed 8 goals and 10 assists in the NIHL South’s second tier whilst also tallying 42 points in 15 games for the under 18s.
Redmond’s success with the Wildcats saw him switch to Slough in 2013/14 and the forward would notch another 14 goals and 15 assists for 29 points in the NIHL South Division 2 whilst also dressing for the EPL’s Jets 17 times. He then finished the campaign by icing in 8 fixtures for the Bracknell Hornets before a full season with the Jets, now in the NIHL South’s second tier, come 2014/15. In 20 outings for the Berkshire outfit Redmond would find the target 14 times whilst playing a hand in 18 more for a total of 32 points – a tally that helped his team to the East Conference title come the end of the year.
Alongside his club career Conor Redmond has also played on the international stage with Ireland for both the under 18s and the senior side. Perhaps his greatest achievement came in 2012/13 when the teenage forward managed 3 goals and 4 assists in 5 outings for the Irish in Division 3 of the World Championships leading to him being named the top player on his side for the tournament. Now he will be hoping for more success and to make his name in the NIHL South’s top tier having moved to Kent to ice for the Invicta Dynamos over the course 2015/16.
Speaking on the fifth new skater to sign for the Mos this summer, Head Coach Kevin Parrish said, “Conor is another young player coming into the side with plenty of potential and having monitored him for a number of seasons I’ve no doubt he is now ready for this league. I spoke to him several years back about a possible move to the Dynamos and have been following his progress ever since so I know he’s ready to make his mark at this level. Conor has put up decent numbers wherever he has been and 2015/16 is the year to test himself and make his name in the NIHL South’s top tier. I know he’s capable and I look forward to working with him when the season gets underway in September”.
Conor Redmond will wear number 18 for the Dynamos and is the tenth player to be announced by the club with further signings to be revealed within the next week.
