Mos raid rivals for Ranson

Triple end of season award winner Jacob Ranson has become the first new face to join the Invicta Dynamos ahead of 2015/16 after the former London Raiders forward penned a deal bringing him to Gillingham for the new campaign.

jacobranson_banner2_120615At just 19 years of age Ranson enjoyed a breakthrough season at Lee Valley last term and his value to the Raiders was firmly demonstrated at the club’s end of season awards as the forward scooped a hat-trick of honours. Not content with the Players’ Player of the Year and Coach’s Player of the Year accolades, the skater was also voted the pick of the roster by the team’s supporters and ended the night with a trio of trophies following his season long exploits. In what was his second stint at the Raiders, Ranson had played in all 44 of the club’s fixtures managing 15 goals and 7 assists in the process for a total of 22 points.

Romford born Jacob Ranson might have spent the majority of his junior years in his home town and nearby Chelmsford but his hockey C.V. also boasts numerous seasons away from the UK including time in both Canada and Sweden. At just 14 the forward relocated across the pond to British Columbia where three terms with the Pursuit of Excellence Hockey School saw him significantly develop his game. In 2012 he then switched to Mjolby to compete in Sweden’s under 18s league before returning home to ice for London and the Milton Keynes Thunder in 2013/14. Last season he then enjoyed his most successful term to date and it was his performances with the Raiders that caught the eye of Dynamos Head Coach Kevin Parrish resulting in a move to Kent.

Speaking on his first new signing Parrish said, “Jacob impressed me a lot last season with his excellent work rate at both ends of the ice. His attitude and effort are precisely what I’m looking to add to this team over the summer and I think he will fit the bill perfectly come the new campaign. Having watched his progress over the last couple of years I’m excited to have him on board and last term especially I think he demonstrated that he’s exactly the sort of player we’ve been missing. He was clearly popular in London and I’ve no doubt our supporters will take to him when we get underway in September”.

Meanwhile the Mos new number 95 Jacob Ranson said, “I’m very pleased to be joining Invicta. I felt last season I managed to establish myself in this league a lot more and now I’ll be looking to build on that with a new challenge at the Dynamos. I can’t wait to getting going and hope for a successful season in Kent”.

Jacob Ranson is the third player to make the Mos roster ahead of 2015/16 as he joins netminder Mark McGill and utility man Adam McNicoll with further signings to be revealed over the coming weeks.
