NIHL South Player of the Year and league top points scorer Callum Fowler will return to the Invicta Dynamos in 2014/15 after the star forward committed to the club for the new season to end speculation linking him with an EPL return.
Callum Fowler will return to the Dynamos for a fifth consecutive year in September and he dons the Mos jersey again on the back of his best campaign in Gillingham to date – the lethal skater managing a remarkable 47 goals and 81 assists for a total of 128 points across all competitions last term. His notable tally saw him finish the year as the division’s highest scorer of points and his outstanding efforts caught the attention of the rest of the league as his peers voted him the NIHL South Division 1’s Player of the Year. At the Dynamos end of season presentations he then scooped two further honours – Head Coach Kevin Parrish singling him out as the club’s Player of the Year whilst his teammates also acknowledged his performances by making him their Players’ Player of the Year. Now the 22 year old will be hoping to do it all again as he returns for another campaign in Kent looking to add to the 136 goals and 203 assists he has amassed at the SilverBlades Gillingham in just 138 appearances.
Speaking on the return of the prolific Callum Fowler, Head Coach Kevin Parrish revealed his delight that the league’s star forward was staying put for another term following a phenomenal year in a Dynamos jersey. Parrish said, “Anyone who follows our league will know that Callum was simply brilliant for us last season. He started the campaign determined to prove that he could be the best in the division and his work rate, drive and attitude saw him more than make his mark come the end of the year. Last season demonstrated just how much he has matured as a player and I’m sure there isn’t a team in the league that wouldn’t want Callum on their roster for 2014/15”.
Despite the potentially envious gazes of other NIHL South Division 1 outfits, recent speculation had suggested it was actually the EPL that would likely be Callum Fowler’s destination for the forthcoming campaign and Head Coach Kevin Parrish is especially pleased the forward has elected to stay put despite the allure of the league above. Parrish said, “After a great year, Callum was inevitably drawing attention from teams higher up the ladder but his decision to remain here for another term show just how much this club means to him. The Dynamos are his local side, he has a great standing with the supporters and he desperately wants to win some silverware in a Mos jersey – something we will all be working towards when the puck drops in September”.
Number 91 Callum Fowler joins blue liner Chris Cooke and netminder Chris Douglas on the roster for 2014/15 with news of further signings to be announced over the coming weeks.
