Filip Sedivy iced in his home nation, America, Canada and Germany before moving to the UK last term. Having played junior hockey in Slovakia, the forward continued his development across the pond in the Atlantic Junior Hockey League (AtJHL) with the Washington Junior Capitals between 2011 and 2013. The following year he moved on to Canada and the Alliston Coyotes where he was prolific in the Greater Metro Junior A Hockey League (GMHL) – managing 36 goals and 71 assists for 107 points in 48 games.
Sedivy returned home in 2014 and he iced in Slovakia’s second tier until 2017 where he featured 96 times and amassed 38 points. His yearn for travel had not been fully satisfied though and in 2017/18 he was back on the road – this time signing for Soester EG in Germany’s fourth division. After 30 outings and 25 points, he was then brought to the UK last season where he plied his trade in British Ice Hockey’s second tier with the London Raiders. Sedivy played 43 games for the Raiders and added 11 goals, 22 assists and so 33 points to their cause. Now he will stay put in the southeast of the country as he pens a deal bringing him to Gillingham with fellow Slovak Juraj Huska for 2019/20.
“I’m pleased to have been able to bring Filip to the team. As soon as the opportunity came to sign him – I took it. Whenever we faced him last season he was a very strong player. He skates well, can carry the puck and knows where the net is. I’m taking no risks with our import slots in 2019/20 and with Filip we know exactly what we’re getting. I know he’ll gel with his linemates and I’ve no doubt we’ll get the best out of him making him an important part of the team. I think Filip is a great signing for us and I look forward to seeing him in action for the Dynamos.”
