33 year old Ben Clements has built a reputation as one of the NIHL’s standout goalies with over a decade of exceptional performances at this level of the game under his belt. Having made his senior debut in 2003/04, the Chelmsford man has then played almost the entirety of his career in Essex with the Chieftains where he helped backstop the team to repeated league, cup and playoff titles. He was a key part of the Chieftains outfit that dominated the division for a period of time and remains one of the most formidable shot stoppers at NIHL level.
In addition to securing frequent success with Chelmsford, Clements has also spent briefer spells with the Romford Raiders / Romford IHC and tried his hand at Goaltending Coach and Head Coach roles. His career now continues with a move to Kent and his switch means the Mos have obtained not only the services of an outstanding goalie with a winner’s pedigree but an experienced and wise head to further bolster the changing room.
“I’ve been trying to sign Clemma (Clements) for the longest time and I can’t wait to finally see him in a Mos jersey! He was one of the first players I wanted when I was appointed coach, so I’m delighted he has now signed on the dotted line. Clemma brings great experience to the team and the opportunity for us to push for honours. He’s an outstanding goalie with a great record at this level of the game and has been the backbone of every side he has been a part of. Along with being a top goalie he’s also an excellent character to have in the room – he’s a very knowledgeable player and coach with a winner’s mentality. I can’t wait to get going with him on side and I know he will fit in well with the Mos family.”
